Create and Issue Supplemental Instructions (SI)

In this article, you will learn how to Create and Issue a new Supplemental Instruction (SI) form..  
A Supplemental Instruction provides additional guidance—like specifications, drawings, or samples—to support the work without affecting the Contract Price or Time.  Issued by the Consultant, it aligns with the Contract Documents and helps clarify project requirements.

  1. Go to the Project where you want to create the new SI form.

  2. Click the Project Forms tab to access the Forms tab and click the Supplemental Instructions tab.

  3. Click the New SI Form button.

  4. You will be directed to the SI Form page. In the Title section, specify the following information:

Title

Enter the SI title here.

Reference Number (Consultant)

Enter the Contractor’s reference number/info. If applicable

Reference Number (Contractor)

Enter the contract price.

Priority

Click the drop-down arrow to select the priority level

  • Normal

  • High

  • Low

Date Required By

Click the field to enable the Calendar and select the required deadline date for the SI.


  1. In the Description section, enter the Instructions.  You can use the Toolbar to format the Instructions.

  2. In the Instruction From section select from the drop-down menu who is issuing this instruction.

  3. In the Attachments section, Drag and Drop the files you want to attach or use the Browse link to search and upload the file manually.  
    a. Note: File size must be less than 50 MB and avoid using special characters in file names.

  4. In the Terms & Conditions sections, enter your terms and conditions in the appropriate text boxes.  The default terms and conditions for Certificates for Payment are set on the "Edit Project Details" help page. 
    Note: you can use the Toolbar to format the terms and conditions.

  5. After specifying all SI Instruction details on the form, click the Save button to create the SI.

Issue Supplemental Instruction 

In this article, you will learn how to Issue Supplemental Instruction (SI) form to your team.  An SI is issued to provide direction to the contractor that will not result in a change to contract price or time. 

  1. Click the Supplemental Instructions tab under Project Forms and click the SI Form you want to Issue.

  2. Once you’re ready to share this SI form with your team, click the Issue button.

  3. The Issue SI - <No.> window will appear. In the Choose a contact (required) field, click the drop-down arrow to select the contact from the list to notify them by email to add a quote.

  4. In the Notify Others on the team (Optional) section, select the checkbox(es) of the contacts that you would like to notify.

  5. In the Comment field (Optional), enter a brief note/issuance comment.

  6. Click the Save button to Issue the SI. 

  7. Here’s an example of the email notification that will be received by those team members selected.

    1. Subject will include the SI# and SI identification details

    2. Action statement of who issued the SI and who was notified.

    3. A clickable link to the Supplemental Instruction - 003

    4. Project title and number

    5. Comments and descriptions provided.
